Merry Christmas!
As the year is coming to a close, I just wanted to take a moment and say merry Christmas to all of you reading this! The weather does not change much for the winter here, it is just not as hot. All of the stores have their decorations out, Christmas music is in the air! I am so excited for my second Dominican Christmas! I am sorry that this letter is a bit late. The stores started putting their decorations out in September, but I have the time to post this. I just wanted to say have a Feliz Navidad!
Weird right? Please tell me its not just me who feels that this is way too early! One thing that we learned last year, is that the Dominicans do Christmas to a whole different degree than I am use to. The early stores put out their decorations in October, but many start in September. And Christmas does not end until late February. Part of the reason Christmas goes so late is Dominicans do not give gifts on December 25th. Instead they give gifts on January 6th, Dia del Reyes. (Day of the Kings).
