Listening With Her Hands

Imagine never being able to hear the waves crashing on the shore. Now, imagine never being able to hear or see your family. This is the reality for a large group of people here in the Dominican Republic. Here there is a genetic disorder that people are born deaf, and go blind later in life. We have two sisters in our church like this, one is completely deaf-blind, but her sister is deaf but not blind yet. In order for her to understand the church service, we have people who provide special interpreting for her. How this works, She will put her hands on top of the interpreters hands while they copy the Pastor’s signs. Recently, all the people who normally interpret for her were not at church, so Mrs. Juana asked me and another young lady in the church to fill in . This was the first time I was able to do this and it was an amazing experience. I am eagerly looking forward to continuing to work with her. My prayer is that God will use this skill working forward so that many people can feel the gospel when they otherwise could not.
