Another Milestone Bites the Dust

When we moved here way back in November of 2023, my family and I spent every Sunday in the Deaf church. We are blessed to be able to worship our Creator God with this church, but it felt different. You see, we were worshiping, but not in our heart language. It was then that God reminded us of how important it is to hear the truths of God in your heart language. Although we could kind of understand the songs it was not it was not preparing our hearts for worship as effectively. After lots of consideration and prayer, we started, Iglesia de Convertidos a Cristo English Outreach. This is a small group of like-minded Christians in the Santo Domingo area. This ministry has been such a blessing for us, because it gives us a place to serve, while we are focusing on learning Spanish. This past Sunday we were able to celebrate our one year anniversary as a ministry. I am so grateful to God for this opportunity, because it has given me a personal reminder of why my family and I moved here. It was hard for me to go to church for weeks and not hear any of the songs that I grew up with. I cannot imagine being Deaf in this country and not be able to ever hear the gospel. It just goes show the things we take for granted. So the next time you are in church and you stand up to sing your favorite song, I challenge you to take a minute to praise the Lord for giving you the ability to worship the Him in your heart language.
